Description

You will discover a jewel of the naval modelling which will allow you to spend pleasant moments and relive the days when these imposing Boats crisscrossed the seas.

TheEndeavour was built in June 1764 by Thomas Fishburn as Earl Of Pembroke. It weighed 368 tons and was 29 m long, 24.79 m keel and 8.89 m maximum width. It had a rounded bow and a flat stern with a cross-shaped rigging. This ship was used for the transport of coal. It was registered on 5 April 1768 as a royal navy ship under the name Endeavour and was given the task of undertaking exploration trips. He was prepared for this voyage at the shipyards of Deptford, near London, where bridges, cabins and tanks were built to accommodate the personnel - officers, scientists, service personnel and sailors - who represented a total of 94 men. TheEndeavour toured the world under Captain James Cook. He departed Plymouth, England, on 8 August 1768, and returned to London on 13 July 1771. The mission of this expedition was to observe the passage of the planet Venus between the earth and the sun. It made it possible to estimate the distance between the stars and to use it as a measure to calculate the parameters of the universe.

TheEndeavour was then used by the Royal Navy during the American War of Independence and was finally scuttled with a dozen other ships off Newport, Rhode Island, in 1778.
