"Crazy hornet in control tower, taxi request on runway 16"

"Crazy hornet tour, well received, clear to drive towards track 16 via the Alpha traffic lane. Winds are currently southerly at 1 8 0 to 10 knots. Clear skies, visibility of 10+. It's a great day to fly! "

Every day is a great day to fly with your vintage Ugears Mad hornet. Inspired by the Granville Brothers' R-1 Super Sportster Gee Bee model and other vintage racing aircraft of the 1930s, the Mad Hornet aircraft features a large teardrop-shaped fuselage and a cockpit well aft, to give the pilot better visibility for tight flights. revolves around the pylons of the racecourse.

The 1920s and 30s were the "golden age of aviation". Aircraft design evolved from cloth and wooden biplanes to metal monoplanes, and ever more powerful aircraft engines opened up new possibilities for military and civilian use. Air racing, as depicted in the popular "Rocketeer" comics, has become a spectator sport. The Gee Bee R-1 won the Thompson Trophy (one of America's most prestigious air races) in 1932, piloted by Jimmy Doolittle, who would go on to win the Medal of Honor for conducting a daring bombing raid on Japan after Pearl Harbor. With a top speed of 294 mph, the R-1 overtook all but one of its competitors in the 1932 race as it was able to stay high on the course thanks to its excellent handling at high speeds. In Doolittle's words, "it's the most adorable plane I've ever flown ".

The Ugears Mad Hornet aircraft is a "medium" difficulty DIY wood model with 354 pieces, promising 8 hours of pleasant assembly time. The aircraft model is powered by a winding coil spring engine, often used in watch mechanisms and other precision instruments. Various sets of gears transmit spring power to the aircraft's moving parts. The Mad Hornet offers two modes: pre-flight verification mode and taxi mode. Choose the mode by adjusting the rotating drum in one of two positions. Insert the special key into the cap slot, then give up to 21 pull-ups on the winding rope. Place the plane on a flat surface, then remove the key and watch your plane come to life. In check mode, the propeller rotates while the wing flaps and tail rudder twist, before the aircraft automatically taxi-rolls through the aerodrome to the runway for take-off. In taxi mode, your plane starts rolling immediately, traveling up to 2.5 meters!

Ugears is known worldwide for producing beautiful wooden DIY models and 3D puzzles, including all types of vehicles: cars, trucks, motorcycles, trains, boats and planes. The Mad Hornet is our most beautiful and complex aircraft model to date. We're also known for our flashback, our steampunk sensibility, so this fast, rugged ship from the 1930s seemed perfect for a flyer by Ugears. The Crazy Hornet is an attractive decorative object for your home or office shelf, but with all this engineering, it is really intended for imaginative play, especially to show off the pre-flight sequence. The crazy hornet's rotating propeller, movable tail rudder, and wing flaps working in tandem are very cool, but the sequential action of rolling the model airplane once the ground checks are complete is unique in our collection.

No glue or special tools are needed to assemble this DIY model kit, just drill the pre-cut parts of their composite wood boards and fit them together. When assembling your Mad Hornet aircraft model, remember to lightly sand and wax the moving parts to make them work properly. This is a "medium" difficulty model, so intended for somewhat experienced modelers or those who are ready to take on a challenge. The model kit includes detailed and illustrated instructions in 11 languages (Ukrainian, English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean) to guide your assembly. If you are not yet familiar with the Ugears catalog of 3D puzzles, DIY model kits, automatons, robots, wooden puzzle boxes and STEM Lab models, you can order one of our simpler models with the Mad Hornet as a warm-up build.

The Mad Hornet aircraft is sure to appeal to aviation enthusiasts, model aircraft enthusiasts, those who appreciate intelligent design and admirers of "those magnificent men in their flying machines". Are you looking for a thoughtful and unique gift? Check. Are there any aircraft enthusiasts in your circle of friends and family? Check. The Mad Hornet is the perfect gift for birthdays or holidays. For all those who dream of flying a single-seater from the golden age of aviation and dancing in the clouds, this flyer is for you!
