Supermarine Spitfire (English breathing fire, but also figuratively soup milk or shrew, where dragon also) is one of the most used by the RAF and the Allies during the second world war cars. It gave rise to a diversification and a multiplicity of versions never before achieved in the history of aviation.
The Spitfire's elliptical wings gave him a very recognizable appearance; their thin cross section gave him an impressive speed; the brilliant design of the Chief Designer Reginald Mitchell and his successors (he died in 1937), did the Spitfire aircraft enjoyed by pilots. He served for the duration of the second world war and, with all its variants, was all fighting.
More than 20 300 aircraft were built and the Spitfire remained in service into the 1950s.
