The Ugears Windmill is more than a mechanical puzzle. This is an exciting adventure in the history of old England. The model is based on the Chesterton Windmill, a 17th century cylindrical windmill built outside the village of Chesterton, Warwickshire. Built around 1632-33, the windmill was restored between 1965 and 1974 and is now the first tower mill in England to keep its parts active.
This unique building with a base of arches was probably built by a prominent figure of the time, Sir Edward Peyto, who then owned Chesterton Manor.

Sir Edward was an enthusiastic mathematician and astrologer, which led us to believe that the mill was originally designed to become an observatory. Although there is no evidence to support this theory and we can only guess what prompted the nobleman to create this magnificent and unique windmill.
This Ugears model, designed in a "steampunk victorian" style, is based on a Chesterton prototype.

By turning quickly, the aerodynamic wings create a fairly strong wind. It can also work the other way around: blowing air to the wings will cause them to spin. Use a fan to show your children how wind turbines work.
A planetary double gearbox with gears of different shapes provides the necessary speed.
The model is powered by an elastic engine. When not loaded, the windmill can operate in manual mode. Allowing you to observe and examine in detail this fascinating mechanism.
The elastic motor drives the wings through an endless screw mechanism and gear transmission. The design of the gear transmission includes a bending link, a type of drive chain assembled from many small links. Full plywood chain transmission has never been used in Ugears models before.

Resembling a spiral staircase, the rotating base of the tower made of arches is part of the screw conveyor mechanism. The fascinating mechanics of moving gears will captivate your attention for a long time to come.
Drawing on the one hand its origin from the English prototype, the Ugears model also tackles the Spanish classic: the Windmill comes with the noble Don Quixote and his eccentric companion Sancho Panza.

Ugears-Models Windmill kit is made from high-quality wood from sustainable sources and has everything you might need for assembly. The quality of the parts is excellent: a laser method is used to cut the parts from a plywood board that provides precise cuts. The pieces must be removed from the boards and assembled to create the complete model. Like all other Ugears models, the Windmill comes with step-by-step instructions, in color, really easy to follow (in 11 languages: Ukrainian, English, German, French, Polish, Spanish, Russian, Turkish, Italian, Chinese and Korean) and does requires no glue or special tools to be fully assembled.

To assemble yourself, without the use of glue.
