Description

Immerse yourself in the world of naval modelling and relive the days of these wonderful Boats thanks to our kit models.

It was a Boat who was one of Baltimore's famous clippers in the early 19th century. He was low-level, fast and had two masts. This boat was small in size, agile and black in colour, which allowed it to hide on the African coast when the slave trade was abolished.

Its hull had been modified to contain spaces under the bridge that were reserved for slaves from Africa who were taken to Cuba to work in sugar plantations. He made his last slave journey from the port of Havana on July 13, 1830, with a crew of 34 officers and armed with a single airship gun, 16 rifles and 15 pistols. Captured by the British HM Brig Black Joke with 567 African captives on board, it was auctioned and purchased by British Anti-Slavery Squadron Commodore Jonathan Hayes, who turned it into a pursuit ship called Fair Rosamond. He monitored Cuban waters and was removed from circulation in 1843.
