Description

Step up this wonderful model kit due AEC Bus B-type. It will allow you to spend long and pleasant moments of creative leisure by building a faithful replica of the original vehicle with all the details.

The Type B buses were built in Walthamstow to replace Type X vehicles. Type B had a capacity of 34 people - 16 inside and 18 on the upper floor discovered - and is considered the first mass-produced bus. It began carrying passengers in 1911 and it is estimated that nearly 2,500 vehicles were in circulation in 1913.

This model was designed by Frank Searle, LGOC's Chief Engineer. It had a wooden structure, steel rims, an endless screw and a chainbox. Its maximum speed was 16 kilometres per hour, which exceeded the legal speed limit of 12 km/h that was established at the time, although some specimens could reach 30-35 km/h in favourable conditions.

A total of 900 bus of this type was used to transport troops to the rearguard during the First World War. The Imperial War Museum keeps one of these buses, the B 43, which is known as Bill Ole, a famous contemporary cartoon character.

The London Transport Museum in Covent Garden, London, retains the original B 340, which has been restored.

Get excited and let yourself be carried away at the time when these wonderful bus circulated in the streets.
